Shearwater Stud was founded in 1982 by my father Roy James Kirkland, known locally as "The Horseman". The ex. RAF
sergeant started breeding Welsh cobs for temperament, type and conformation for more than 20 years with much happiness and Success. After his passing away in 2004, it was decided that we would expand the stud and carry on where he finished and, with recent additions from Ilar Stud and Fronarth Stud, our aim is to breed cobs of the very highest quality for the showring and ride/drive.
